It’s good to hear from the pros! I find what the first interviewee has to say about techniques vs art (or composition) very relevant, and that the portraits we take need to reflect the person behind the lens. I guess at the end of the day, a camera no matter how sophisticated it is, is only a tool and without an eye that sees and a heart that feels, it remains just that. For us the enthusiasts, that’s something to strive for.
Yes, I thought that first segment was very wise. Sometimes the line between amateur and professional are just a difference of words. Art photography totally blurs the line. It’s a very good time for photography and photographers.
I quite enjoyed the thoughts and approach of the female photographer… I struggle with that in the moment feeling and even when I do see a great opportunity I quite often fail to capture it. I guess more practice never hurts…
Flowing with the moment does seem fitting to some personalities more than others but I think it can be learned through constant doing. I guess photography, like she says is a way to discover and train oneself. It is a life long lesson. Enjoy!
