very important personality that has helped convert the world to rationality! (though the job isnt quite complete yet) His message very much reminds me of Einstein’s quote “never stop questioning”

I will always have this romantic spot in my heart for the ancient Greeks as in many ways they were my first introduction to history. I remember as a small child watching cartoons which depicted the Greek heros and myths…

and this was a nice “dessert” to follow the lamb souvlaki I had for supper!

David, unless I’ve missed it I believe you have neglected to include my personal favourite - Confucius - in your seires of philosphers. I found a 5 part biography on youtube that I think you enjoy. It starts here:

Thanks for the link, Sean… I will check it out. I am sure Confucius will make on the site eventually.

I have not studied much of Socrates or for that matter the other founders of Western rationalism, Plato and Aristotle, but this piece is surely inspiring me to get to know him a lot better. Didn’t Socrates always insist to students who had gone to him to learn, that he had nothing to teach them - but to have a change of mind. Yes…it all starts with our own thinking, reasoning and rationalising.

It’ll be neat to have had some Philosophy classes. They were never my interests when I was schooling. If it was that Socrates insisted that it is he who learns from his students, then he was indeed a wise man.
