Wow, I feel like I am back in Taipei especially in the first 4 episodes. I did find the food in Taiwan quite bizarre actually. I consider myself quite adventurous but boy, I just couldn’t bring myself to try some of the stuff there. No, not even the stinky tofu. In fact, the stench spoilt my appetite at the Shilin Market on the first night. I was very tired and the smell of stinky tofu (the stalls were every where!) and the sight of all these strange foods didn’t help. Luckily at the hotel they served Taiwanese porridge (and less bizarre food) every morning and it was much more agreeable with my palette. :)

Oh my, I never realized Taiwanese food was so strange. The Taiwanese restaurants I have been to in San Francisco always appear mush like Chinese food. I only encounter one kind of stinky tofu and it does not necessarily excite me that there are so many variations. I suppose when you have a taste for it, it really grows on you.
