Chongqing has 12 million people and counting. China is building megacities like this at a pace and scale the world has never seen before. I must shamelessly admit: I think I was pretty distracted watching this dishy chap.
Umph, what was this about again?
I am not sure about Chongqing, but I think some of these urban experiments in the face of GFC have evaporated as fast as they mushroomed in a very short span of time. May be the city is spared, as it doesn’t seem to be solely reliant on manufacturing which dries up with the drop in demand overseas.

the pace of change in China is mind boggling. I think for its citizens it must be both very exciting and quite disconcerting. The way that the natural landscape is so ravaged there is a bit scary. The question remains - how long can the resources of the earth support this mega urbanization?
