This is the story of Daniel Tammet, a twenty-something with extraordinary mental abilities and one of the world’s few savants. He sees and feels numbers, does huge calculations in his head and learns a new language in a week. This documentary follows Daniel as he travels from the UK to America to meet the skeptical scientists who put him through rigorous tests but now hopes he may hold the key to unlocking similar abilities in everyone. Wow. This is truly an amazing gift. I wonder if these special abilities are gender-specific. I mean, we don’t often hear much about female savants, do we?

Hmm, you are correct, I have not heard of female savants… I wonder. It is interesting that he uses a visual, emotional and intuitive approach, traits not commonly associated with mathematics and higher learning functions.
