President Obama introduces stricter, greener new national emissions and mileage requirements for cars and light trucks. The rules aim to cut emissions by 30 percent and require passenger cars to average thirty-nine miles per gallon and light trucks thirty mpg by 2016. (1 min)
The White House estimates the regulations would save 1.8 billion barrels of oil and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 900 million metric tons over the lifetime of the more efficient vehicles, equivalent to taking 177 million cars off the road or shutting down 194 coal-fired power plants. Yes, I am thrilled that an oil man is no longer the U.S. president.

finally a sensible approach on this issue. Surely this is the common sense route to go while alternative fuels are still in the development stages.
But wait a minute…. maybe it would be better to invade an oil rich country to secure access to the resource and meanwhile enrich weapons manufacturers, then after destroying that country get infrastructure companies owned by close associates to rebuild everything the military has just destroyed at hyper inflated costs. Surprised nobody thought of this method of “spreading the wealth” before!

It’s true though, this green approach just takes too long… and we have to make changes in our lives. It’s annoying and disruptive. It’s easier and faster just to invade a resource rich country. After all we are bringing them Coka-Cola, burgers and democracy and maybe even our preferred god.
