    the overall strategy seems to be sound, but I think it will be very hard to overcome the engrained ways of thinking in this region. The people here are used to playing the long game - that is, they dont need an exit strategy, they will be here long after the US and other foreign troops leave.

    In the bigger picture, any possible future attacks against the US will seriously damage Obama’s credibility and his opponents domestically will be ready to jump on him. I am just hoping that there is a fatigue on all sides and people are ready to talk and persue a new course other than violence.

    This is the one part of the Obama strategy that I am most uneasy about.
