Anthony Bourdain and the No Reservations crew goes to the Greek islands. Actually, Bourdain seems to just hang out on Crete but perhaps that’s representative of the Greek islands. Segment 1

I liked the “attitude” he approached the Greek experience with - it ended up being very entertaining with his alcohol tinged sense of humour! I find I enjoy these travel / cuisine shows where the hosts are unapologetic drinkers… one reason why i also enjoy the Departures series that I mentioned before!
I very much enjoy Greek food, though I havent been as adventurous with it as I’d like to be.

I kind of identify with him when he says he did not think Greek food could be that interesting. I’m not even sure he convinced me yet but I like that they make such a big thing about the wild vegetables. It’s rare when vegetable gets center stage.

i could not watch the lamb scene….I like Greek food just fine (it’s in the blood)…but have to admit, I’d never heard about the wild veggies, I liked that as well…

We have one of the largest if not the largest Greek community outside Greece here, and yet I have never really taken to Greek food and on the rare occasions that I go Greek, I opt for the seafood. The lamb scene…not a pretty sight. The Bedouins in Egypt did the same one night when we spent a couple of nights in the Sinai desert, and I couldn’t bring myself to even have a taste of the dish that evening.

Does anyone know the name of the homemade “paint thinner” wine that was featured in this episode? I’ve tried several spellings and nothing comes up for this concoction. Thanks
