    It’s good to know that the big auction houses are doing the right thing. As you said, the mainstream needs to be aware of cultural preservation and especially where the country has been destroyed by war and violence, there’s all the more reason for the international community to come forward to help restore her soul and spirit.

    When I was in Athens many years ago, I talked to an artisan of greek potteries who was still very angry about the British Museum keeping a gigantic amount of Greek artifacts that they were able to haul off before there was this international awareness that those actions are equal to looting and stealing. This woman was actually weeping as she was telling me this. I wonder if the Brits will ever return the priceless pieces that are probably now a cornerstone of their museum and Western history.
