certainly one of the pluses of living in such a multi-cultural city is that you have this wide range of street foods available.
I was aware that the city was making it quite hard for many of these vendors to do business, but did not understand why until it was explained in this video. A very politically charged issue. But as they pointed out, the city would be very sterile and lose a great deal of character without these carts on the streets…
You haven’t been to NYC until you have tried a hot dog on the street, or burrito or falafel for that matter! Indeed, street vendors are part of NY and I think the tourism board needs to be on this side and fight it out against the real estate developers or those who are against the street culture.
There’s always some transparent war going between David and Goliath I suppose. I think all cities should have more street food vendors which injects so much community life. Of course, it is a lot easier in Asia where it is warm.

I can’t imagine NYC without the street food vendors….I like the middle eastern stalls the best, but those hot dogs are pretty tasty as well…
