Agreed. Guns are creepy but I can almost understand the attraction to them. They are like gadgets and everyone loves their gadgets…:~) Anyway, this little clip is very odd. It’s real and kind of scary but it feels like a movie.

that part where the old man’s hat blows away is priceless, so funny!

even though the gun culture here creeps me out, I must say that I respect the defiant attitude of these people. They are one of the few cultures on earth who have successfully resisted being westernized.

Incase you dont know, Canada has one of the largest forces in Afghanistan. So far we have lost about 100 of our men and women in the fighting there. As in any country, those that have given their lives are hailed as heroes fighting for their country. I am not taken in by this portrayal. In what way is killing these primative people on the opposite side of the planet heroic?

When the guy lost his hat, it looked like they blew their cover.

I do know about the Canadian force in Canada. There’s a soldier that takes great pictures and posts them on flickr. Yes, god and country are always behind all soldiers of the world. That gives the “moral authority” to kill.

^ with regards to Canadian troops, CBC recently ran a documentary where they had unrestricted access inside the military in the Kandahar area. I tried to find a link to it online but didnt have any luck mainly because I couldnt remember what it was called.

I did however find another good looking production from Doc Zone called “Afghanistan: Between Fear and Hope” that you might find interesting…
