I know… This really blew my mind when i first came across it. I used to think about this, when the Web first kicked in, but for scientists to think about the possibility of it seriously is quite another thing. In many ways it is not just the technology to arrive at any possibility but the thought of it that paves the way. I guess movies like The Matrix has brought the idea into the mainstream so that scientists can think about the possibility of it without being perceived as insane…:~)

yes, this blew my mind as well… it also reminded me of the matrix, as well as the older movie total recall, where people had implanted memories to travel and take vacations…just as folks find the net so addicting, just imagine if folks could exist in some kind of fantasy virtual world…hehe, like I’ve said before…this type of possibility makes me torn between unplugging and going to live in some beach hut somewhere and curious to see how all this plays out… :-)

Yes, although it may be the same thing… the best way to unplug may be to enter a beach simulation… Maybe there’s too many people to have a secluded beach getaway or the world is so polluted that the virtual is better than the real, but they are saying we may be in a simulation already so maybe we better get to fixing this simulation so we can still have beach vacations in the near future…:~)

Ha ha… I am not much of a beach person, I’ll take the Exploring Egypt as Indiana Jones simulation, please.

hehe…too funny, watch out for the snakes! does this mean i can do the treking in the Himalayas simulation without any training??

Well, it depends… unfortunately the simulation that we are in is inefficient, we do need to train and be in fairly good shape to undertake such a task. Although I would love to have the option of downloading a super conditioning package, it may ultimately be “better” for us to be in a simulation where we need to work out or else we would!

alright, these guys need to be locked up. This eternal debate about what is reality is nonsense. We have a “consentual” or rational reality infront of our eyes, yet so many of us are disastisfied with what it presents us. Deal with it… dont try to escape.

I imagine the eternal debate about reality has always been part of human experience. Without that curiosity, we could never grow. It maybe that the people who think outside the box are most satisfied and appreciative of the present.
