very interesting to hear the interviews with the vendors regarding their challenges, some of them have a very long day…and as usual, the food shots were really nice…
this is one of my fave series!

Yep! With the high prices the first and hardest hit are the poorer ones whose staple food is rice and bread.
I was in Egypt a few years ago, and remember tasting some of the yummy ’street’ food, not on the street but in family-run little restaurants.
Really enjoy your food series, David.

You were in Egypt? I don’t remember any pictures from there. Oh, someday, I will make it there… we all have such a romance for Egypt.

Oh I only have a couple of photos up on Flickr…I wasn’t taking photos at that time (2004). Most of them were touristy candid shots.

Yes, that’s funny… the PRE-flickr days. It’s amazing that was only 2004. Your photography is so good it seems you’ve always been taking pictures…

beautiful people, beautiful culture, amazing city! Cairo is very high on my list of places I would love to see. I wasnt aware that the scale of the economy there is so small compared to us… that one guy was able support his wife and five children on $4 a day - crazy!
