you know I love these guys! Fantastic song and video (unfortunately whoever ripped this video had the sound levels too high so there is distortion)
I would love to be part of the lounge scene!
Is that what it was, I thought it sounded a little clunky… that’s my technical term for sound distortion…:~)
Yeah, these guys are super cool. The video sort of has the same look as the Lomo Documentary.
ha ha – dont you own a copy of The Mirror Conspiracy? Mine has this video on it, with nice clear sound… though this is a live performance and not just the album track over dubbed.
Yes, it’s a great album, maybe their best. There are at least 2 more that are just as good… but anyway, I never knew this video was on there. It’s nice, huh?
nice, the staticky sound goes well with the film style… of their albums I’ve heard this is my fave…
since you brought it up what are the other 2 discs that you like as much? I think Richest Man in Babylon would be right up there. Other than that, I think the only other full length original content record is The Cosmic Game… not bad, but they got away from the lounge side a bit on that one, heavy on the dub though. Of their remix discs I never get tired of The Outernational Sound!
Well, the 2 other CDs I was thinking about are not those, they are earlier ones when their sound was still being shaped more by dub reggae. I had to look these up since I am not at home… they are:
1. Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi
2. DJ-Kicks
Both are not rated at high at allmusic.com but I tend to like them better than the later albums…
ah yes, I have wanted Sounds from the Thievery for quite awhile… I think it was inspired by a compilation they put together for Verve called Sounds from the Verve Hifi. This one I do own and its all original tracks of jazz, latin and bossa nova from the 60′s… music that was Hilton and Garza’s early inspiration for the lounge vibe. Again, not highly rated at allmusic: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:hvftxqt0ldde
