   great find once again my friend! I have heard the name Lomo a lot since being on flickr. One of my early contacts did a lot of that type of style, also shooting with toy cameras. I really do like the style… the look is easy enough to imitate with processing, but the unplanned / shoot from the hip is not so easy for me (especially now with the dslr)

   I had though Lomo was an abbreviation as in LoFi, but now I know its the name of the company. those technical innovations they added such as the rapid fire exposures and the multi-lenses were so cool. Such a fabulous way to capture moments in life!

   I was really inspied by watching this video to make another attempt at doing less literal photos. I have really been stuck in a rut of doing scenery lately…

   Yeah, I know, it was very inspiring to watch, perfect for the flickr crowd. Yes, I want to shoot from the hip more as well… but don’t forget the other 9 rules… I actually really want to get those Russian cameras and play but I am too lazy to deal with loading film, development and print. Those effects are so fun and vibrant though.

   I hear you about the inability to edit. I wonder if there’s a way to allow regular users into another layer that can edit. I’ll look into it.

   lomos are cool….i may have to pick one up to play around with…i kinda like that you can’t edit it, in a way it is part of the beauty of it…

   I think you would have a blast, you should get one. Can you get them in a store where you are or would you get it online. Just the other day, I saw a bunch at Urban Outfitters which is a fairly big chain for hipsters.

   I am going to get one, but have to decide which model (regular, fisheye, multiframe)…I will probably get it online….We don’t have an Urban Outfitters here in Memphis…

   Maybe you can swing a business trip to St Petersburg and get the camera from the source…:~) Actually though, I guess the Lomographic Society makes a lot of the cameras now so the new ones are not necessarily made in Russia anymore.

   There is a panoramic Lomo that looks really cool but it sells for $500 or something… so I passed, for now.

   hehe…one of my girlfriends recently traveled home to Moscow…I should have asked her to get me one!

   …and no david, no $500 lomo for me, am looking at those in the $50-70 range… the dslr has left me pretty broke…

   Very, very interesting. Makes me want to get a Lomo now.

   I really like the cult/culture of Lomography. I think even if the 10 Golden Rules are applied to conventional photography. the results will still be lacking in richness and feel. One has to buy into the whole philosophy/culture first before it is put into practice, only then comes the tool. Perhaps Lomo succeeds because it is the culture as well as the tool for such expression.

    You know, I think you are right. While you can do all the rules, the look and feel would still not have those mysterious qualities partly because it’s film.
