Australia’s Beyond Tomorrow looks at Compressed Air Car Innovations in France and Australia (8:52 min) that may hit the market soon.
A 15-year old company Motor Development International (MDI) based in Nice, France, headed by inventor and Formula One race car engineer, Guy Negre, has developed and is ready to introduce a vehicle powered by the Compressed Air Engine (CAE). Running on compressed air, these cars get over 100 gas-equivalent mpg and over 90 mph, have zero to low C02 emissions, seat six with plenty of space for luggage, cut no safety corners, and cost around an average economy to mid-size vehicle. Zero Pollution Motors (ZPM), is the exclusive representative for MDI in the United States.

lots of promising research and development going on! there is some comfort in knowing that technologies will be in place when the oil runs out. And I do think that the oil will virtually have to run out before we see any mass changing of technologies. Humans (especially those in positions of power) are very stubborn about change.
