Michael Moore released the documentary film Sicko (or SiCKO) in 2007 which investigates the American health care system, focusing on the for-profit health insurance and pharmaceutical industries. The film compares the private-sector U.S. system with the socialized systems of Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Cuba.
Roger Ebert gave the film three and a half out of four stars, observing that Moore was less “cocky” than in his previous films, and placed less emphasis on humor. Ebert believes that the film would connect with anyone whose family has experienced serious illness.
