Pink Floyd: Echoes

Echoes is Pink Floyd’s 23-minute-plus epic song originally released on the 1971 album Meddle. It is presented here in three video parts of a live performance filmed and recorded in Pompeii. This is Pink Floyd transitioning out of their psychedelic past and establishing their sound. It seems perfectly appropriate to kick off my blog with this.

Echoes, Part I (above) begins the film Live at Pompeii by Adrian Maben. Echoes, Part II (2 videos below) end the film. They played and acted through 6 to 9 other songs in between, depending on which version of the movie you see. In 1971, Pink Floyd were Nick Mason, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Richard Wright.

great selection here… oddly enough I had not seen any of this film before! With any luck I will see Pompei with my own eyes later this year as well…

Have you seen the making of Dark Side of the Moon? Roger Waters has a lot of interesting philosophical things to say.

nope, have not seen the making of Dark Side of the Moon. I will look around for it. Roger Waters is a bit of a philosopher, isn’t he?
